BOBBY MARCHAN - WHAT CAN I DO ?

("What Can I Do ?", Stax Records/Volt 108, 1963)

Bobby Marchan (a female impersonator... you can hear it !!!) signed on Stax Records in 1963, recommended to Jim Stewart by Otis Redding (he was a part of warm up act group for Redding live shows).
He made his label debut with this beautiful song : "What Can I Do ?".

In that era, the radio stations refused to play more than one or two new songs from a record label at one time... That's why this single came out on Volt 108, subsidiary label of Stax, created to circumvent this radio stations policy !
